I am originally from San Fernando Valley area of California. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with a Latin minor from the University of California at Los Angeles. I continued my education at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland to earn a master's degree in Scottish Studies and a Ph.D. in History. I was able to broaden my understanding of history and historical methods by completing my studies in a foreign country. In addition, it was an excellent personal experience that has enriched my life. I was a teaching assistant for five years at the University of Edinburgh. I taught several history courses and provided advice to students on test prep and essay writing. I currently tutor essay writing, English, history, and philosophy. I specialize in European history; however, I have a passion for tutoring any subject related to history. I find enjoyment in assisting students to develop a logical and practical approach to reading and writing essays. I have found the best teaching method is to make the subject interesting and relevant to the student. When students are provided relatable examples and engaged in the learning process, they become more efficient learners. History is more than a narrative of facts, and I strive to show my students the interesting anecdotes and the broad narrative of history to help them become interested in learning the subject. I am a lifelong learner and always looking to better myself. I like to write historical articles and read. I also sing and play guitar.
