Experience

My career has been focused on clinical psychology and my work has been both in clinical work and teaching in the field. I am very interested in teaching in all forms, so I made every attempt to take part in it whenever I could when I was in grad school. Overall, I have been a teaching assistant at the graduate level five times and at the undergraduate level three times. I worked with faculty on reviewing papers and exams so I am near fluent in APA formatting. Further, in each of the classes I was able to guest lecture on various subjects in the clinical psychology field that included family therapy for eating disorders, addressing cultural microaggressions, and the assessment and treatment of suicidal ideation. While I have not previously tutored, I have worked with students individually in the classes I was a TA for as well as helped trainees I supervised draft and edit cover letters, C.V.'s, and essays. I am passionate about the learning process and enjoy working with individuals in fine-tuning skills and in developing learning strategies that work for them. I have also supervised several trainees for the past two years during my internship and postdoctoral fellowship. I've completed all of my training as a clinical psychologist including the national license exam this past summer so I am well-versed in studying strategies for difficult exams.

Hobbies

I'm an avid movie-goer and film enthusiast both of new and classic films. More than halfway through the AFI's top 100 list. I try to read at least 20 books each year both fiction and nonfiction. I have an eight-year-old German shepherd/lab mix I adopted when he was three and I enjoy taking him for hikes and to parks. I think he would say he enjoys when I give him treats, but I think he enjoys our outings too.
